Blog : Werner Herzog

It's been a while since I marvelled at a Werner Herzog film though I did enjoy 'Cave of Forgotten Dreams'. The ones that have really stayed with me are 'Even Dwarfs Started Small', 'Land of Silence and Darkness', 'Aguirre', 'Stroczek' and 'Fitzcarraldo' - all made before he moved to the U.S. But whether he's trying to pull a steamship over a hill in the Amazon or walking from Munich to Paris in mid-winter - in the belief that he will cure a good friend's illness - he is always fascinating. In fact, he is a true original and one of the greats not just of German cinema but of World cinema. Looks like this book is an update of Faber's 'Herzog on Herzog'. Sold!
