Really enjoyed seeing the Chris Ofili retrospective at the New Museum and particularly the recent work from Port of Spain including the three pieces above which look like they've been painted on unprimed canvas.

Dinner with Violet at Miss Lily's 7A - the branch on Avenue A. Good sounds - as one would expect from Miss Lily's. I'm pretty sure the whole Miss Lily's thing was inspired by The Globe - a place I used to frequent in West London!

Love this Avedon picture of Anjelica Huston in Ireland. Can't remember the name of the guy - with his back to us - but I'm pretty sure Anjelica writes about it in the first part of her memoir. This is taken from the catalogue for the wonderful Avedon show - Women - which I saw at the Gagosian gallery in LA end of last year. Worth getting a copy!
